Entry- Level- Driver- Training Classes

Entry-Level Driver Training Program

As of February 7, 2022, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration began requiring an Entry- Level Driver’s Training course for any driver wishing to receive their commercial driver’s license.

Shortly after this regulation was enacted, Girod Farms Trucking became a certified training center for their employees. Our course is now open to the public.

Our course runs the first three weeks of the month.

The first two classes are on Saturdays beginning at 8am and ending at approximately 4pm. Evaluations will be scheduled in a two-hour time block on the third Friday or Saturday of the month. We are a streamlined course, not a CDL School; therefore students will need to have the ability to practice their skills on their own time as well.

The first class will cover the theory portion with our CDL Training book. We will go over key topics and will answer any questions the students may have. There will be a 100-question theory assessment which the students must pass with at least an 80%.

The second class will be behind- the-wheel instruction via range. This will include pre-trip and in-cab inspections as well as air brake/ tug test, and a service brake inspection. Then we will move to straight line backing, offset backing, and parallel parking.

The third class will be a driving skill evaluation. Students will demonstrate a pre-trip and in-cab inspection, an air brake/tug test, and a service brake inspection. Students will then follow a pre-determined route in an automatic vehicle that encompasses most types of driving experiences.

All behind the wheel instruction will be completed in an automatic vehicle. Candidates will only have theory-based instruction for manual transmissions. If the candidates need behind-the-wheel manual transmission training, we suggest a CDL Training School.

Once the final class is complete, students will be able to schedule their State Skills Exam with an accredited testing facility.

The course cost is $2,500 with the first $100 being due to reserve the student’s place in the class. The remaining $2,400 is due one week before the first day of class. We accept cash, check, and credit card with a 4% processing fee. Our instructor will not accept any payments the day of class.

If you have any further questions or would like to reserve your spot, please stay on the line.

Thank you
